These are designed to block the vent openings to prevent rodents (mice, rats, etc) from getting access to the cooking surface. These also provide a barrier to the elements and can reduce likeliness of rain snow entering the grill. This fit the original RT 590 that included 3 ports on the rear without the all weather vents installed. The newer model has many small vents that do not require
