Once Portal Manipulator's triggered ability resolves, the target attacking creatures are still considered to have attacked the player, planeswalker, or battle they were initially declared as attacking, but they are now attacking the target player
This is of course a reprint of the original Charizard but is still one of the best cards from the Pokmon Celebrations expansion
Once it hits the battlefield, the window to answer it becomes incredibly small, because even a single attack can put its controller so far ahead on both life and resources that the game starts feeling like a formality

Its a given that you might discard the card that you searched for, but the chances are usually pretty low and the best decks wont really care if they happen to discard something important because they have ways to play it from the graveyard in the current era of Commander where the graveyard often feels like a second hand
